Player Profile - Nick Toenjes

Profile: What's the nicest way to tell someone you don't want to be their partner? Do you tell them you're not sure if you're playing in the tourney? Or perhaps the old "I've already got one" excuse? Ahhh….Nick's just so nice that you can't bring yourself to give him any BS, so you end up playing front for him….and low and behold, it's not so bad!

Nick T is a Colorado Ping Pong champ bringing his competitive nature and smarts to the foos scene. He started out as a newbie goalie, and…well…he's still there...but not so noob anymore. Gotta admire his dedication and perserverance! His defense has gotten noticeably better, and it's not uncommon for him to throw up a brick wall against anyone at any time. He's also getting better with quick hands keeping out slop and digging for loose balls. His goalie game is deceptive, because his 2 bar isn't all that fast. That, plus his friendly nature, can lead many opponents to take him lightly…and before they know it, they are in the hole cursing at themselves…or him…just ask Ditto.

Nick's still learning the nuiances of the game, and definitely needs to eat some wheaties for his 2 bar, but one thing is for certain…if you play front for him and lose, it'll be your own fault, because he definitely will give you enough blocks to win.

Strengths: evolving defense that's getting better and better, eager learner, nice fundamentals up front which just need to be executed a bit faster with more confidence

Weaknesses: 2 bar lateral speed isn't fast, front game needs some work, ball control needs improvement
